Controlled by the Spirit of God Living In You

Rom. 8:9-11    

   9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)  10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.  11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

As we permit it, Jesus re-works our nature, making us over again into His image. We are no longer controlled by evil and self. When we yield control of self over to God, then we belong to God and His nature now directs our paths and our decisions. God looks at you and sees you wearing Christ's nature. You have been justified-- made right in God's eyes. With the Holy Spirit of God (and Christ) living within you, are you surprised that you now have abilities you did not formerly possess? You can say no to lust. You can say no to greed. You can say no to mean-spiritedness. You can say no to avarice. You can say no to all the sins that used to separate you from the Holy Creator. Just think about it for a minute-- reflect deeply.  "The Spirit of Christ living within YOU!!!   That is awesome to think about but there is more-- and this is the exciting part. Your mortal body will receive new life-- eternal life! it is guaranteed.
